Why a Ranch Vacation is Better than Your Other Idea

For lucky families, there are countless annual vacation options, domestic and international. So, what sets the Gros Ventre River Ranch apart from Europe, Asia, Disney World, the Carribean or even a hotel in Jackson?

For many previous guests, it is safe to say that one word comes to mind when they reflect on their vacation at the Gros Ventre River Ranch: peace. Because we only host around forty guests per week, our ranch never feels crowded. This distinguishes us from other options, such as touring large cities. Even the small town of Jackson faces crowds during the summer months, and while it can be nice to visit town for an afternoon off the ranch, our guests are relieved to return to their tranquil cabin at the end of the day.

Additionally, the Gros Ventre River Ranch is, as we like to say, an “active vacation.” While your time at here will be relaxing and peaceful, it will also never be boring! While there is no pressure to participate in any activity, there is always an option to get moving or be entertained whether on horseback, fishing the Gros Ventre River, hiking in Grand Teton or Yellowstone National Parks, or listening to one of our cowboy singers around the campfire. Put simply, our plethora of activity options for all ages ensure that guests always have something to do. Our weekly schedule is diverse; one day you’ll be up before the sun spotting wildlife on our breakfast ride, and the next you’ll be taking an afternoon dip in our cool swimming pond. Moral of the story: laying on the beach gets old–come to the mountains and take advantage of all the Gros Ventre River Ranch has to offer.

Finally, our ranch is unique because it is truly a little piece of civilization in the wild. Our cabins and lodges are immersed in the stunning Gros Ventre Wilderness and Teton National Forest, and our horseback rides go into Grand Teton National Park. Our accommodations are best described as Western, rustic, and luxurious all at the same time. When you step outside of your room and look around, you will only see nature and those enjoying it with you. You will feel a rare, comforting type of seclusion. With this peaceful isolation inevitably comes a disconnection from technology, which our guests find beneficial given how our society functions today. Unlike most other vacation spots, on our ranch there is limited cell phone service and WiFi. This allows families and friends to put down their phone, shut down their computer, and just enjoy each other’s company in a special place.

The Gros Ventre River Ranch is open from June 17th-September 23rd, 2018. We hope you can come spend a week with us!
