Spending time at a Jackson Hole Dude Ranch is a unique and authentic way of experiencing our valley, and the incredible history that lies behind it. However, our area being hard to get to, we often have guests come visit us who have never spent time in Jackson Hole, and who want to get a well-rounded experience before they leave. Therefore, we have compiled a few options for how to fill a free afternoon in our fun-filled valley!
#1: Visit the Town Square in Jackson
#2: Take a Snake River float trip or those more daring, a whitewater rafting trip!
#3: Visit the many art galleries around town
#4: Take the lift (or hike!) up to the town overlook at Snow King
#5: Hike to Hidden Falls at Jenny Lake in Grand Teton National Park
#6: Partake in a wildlife tour: there are tour companies in town that run them, or we can suggest some fun routes!
#7: Slide down the Alpine Slide at Snow King Resort (a great activity for families with young kids!)
#8: Grab a mountain bike from the ranch and bike to Slide Lake beach
#9: Drive the scenic Moose-Wilson Road to Teton Village and stop at the Laurence Roosevelt Reserve!
#10: Ride the tram up to the top of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort
You can also visit the Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce for more ideas! The ideas included encompass all aspects of Jackson: one gets a taste of the history of Jackson at the town square, an idea of the vast wilderness beyond Jackson with hikes in Grand Teton and up Snow King, an appreciation for the vast array of species that call Jackson Hole home with a wildlife tour, and much, much more! The best part at the end of the day? Returning to the peace and quiet of the Gros Ventre River Ranch, watching the sun set of the Tetons, and anticipating another fun day of horseback riding, fishing, hiking or just good ole relaxing!
