How to Plan 7 Days at GVRR

Day 1 – ARRIVAL DAY!

With check-in at 3pm, you have plenty of time to get that later flight or to spend a few hours in downtown Jackson Hole! Grab a drink at the historic Wort Hotel or some local Huckleberry ice cream at Moo’s Gourmet Ice Cream parlor, and make your way to the ranch!

After being greeted and settled into your luxurious log cabin, it is time to explore … or maybe nap in a hammock!Gros Ventre River Ranch Jackson Hole

Get a lay of the land by venturing up to our barns and picking out the perfect riding boots to claim for the week. Take in the mountain air by starting a game of cornhole in our yard or walking the banks of the Gros Ventre River.

We will all gather for appetizers and dinner at the main lodge, where you will meet the GV staff and enjoy a meal listening to a local musician and watching the sun set behind the Teton mountain range.

Day 2 – Meet your Horses!

For all of you riders, this could be the best day yet! Following breakfast in our dining room overlooking the river, we meet at the barn for your very first ride.

You’ll learn the name of your horse and the wranglers, and out on the trail you go. Ask questions, get a feel for the saddle, and hopefully see some wildlife!

Before we return for lunch, let your wrangler know if you will ride in the afternoon.

If you’re not riding, join our fishing instructor and learn how to cast a fly rod!

Following a tasty meal, join a local park ranger or historian and learn about the Jackson Hole area. Also don’t forget to sign up for Day 3’s morning or afternoon rides or a relaxing massage!

Day 3 – Get Settled in Wyoming

If you enjoyed the riding the day before, you could sign up for our faster, intermediate, ride in the morning!

Get out on the horse trails again for an afternoon ride. Those who tried the intermediate can move to an advanced ride!

If today is not a day for the saddle, follow our local hiking guide on a morning nature hike off the ranch property into the surrounding National Park or Forest lands. This is a great opportunity for photography and wildlife spotting.

Following lunch, enjoy a relaxing massage in your cabin.

Dinner will be BBQ on the grill surrounding a crackling campfire. Enjoy lots of S’mores, listen to our local cowboy singer and get your leather items branded with our GV brand!

Day 4 – RELAX.

For those who don’t have relax in their vocabulary, sign up for our morning and afternoon rides or our ALL-DAY ride taking you up into the mountains from morning till evening!

With an easy lunch of Burgers and Fruit Salad, now is a great time to relax and take advantage of being on VACATION! Grab some cold lemonade, a book, and a front-porch rocking chair for a few hours.

If you can’t get enough of the area, take the day to go whitewater rafting, explore Teton Village or plan a trip to the national parks.Relax at Gros Ventre River Ranch

Day 5 – Picture Time!

Today is the day to brush off your hat and be horseback for our professional photographer! He will take pictures of you and your family on your horses before your morning ride.

Rides will all meet up on a nearby ridge for a simple lunch with a view of the Jackson Hole Valley before returning to the ranch.

Get cleaned up and spend a few hours in Jackson before dinner when our photographer will return with your pictures!

Day 6 – Time for some friendly competition!

Get an early start with our Breakfast Ride, meeting at the barn and riding to the river for a hot campfire breakfast.

In the afternoon, gear up and meet at the arena to move cattle around on horseback. Best time on the clock gets bragging rights!

Dinner with cowboy singer entertainment is followed by the local rodeo in Jackson hole!

Day 7 – Happy trails!

Don’t think about packing just yet – grab one last morning ride and take in the sights!

Check-out is before 11:30 am so there is plenty of time to clean up after being on the trail!
